There’s a story about an old donkey that fell into a well. His master knew it would be difficult to retrieve him. He also knew the poor animal didn’t have much life left in him anyway, so he called his neighbors to help him bury the donkey alive. Each continued to shoveldirt over him to complete the task.

The old donkey wasn’t ready to give up, so with each shovel load dumped upon him, he’d shake it off and take a step up. Eventually he reached the top of the well. His perseverance paid off. He didn’t let the dirt overtake him.

There are many times in our lives when the burden seems too heavy and we begin to cave to the pressure. It’s not as easy as it sounds to merely go with the flow and step up and out of depression. Those feelings are real and can wring…
